Nautilus Cares Event

Nautilus Cares Event – Friday March, 3rd 2017

Last night With Us visited Nautilus Cares Teen Late Night (TLN) in Vancouver, WA. Our Founder, Pat Connaughton & his Portland Trailblazer teammate, Moe Harkless, made an appearance at Firstenburg Community Center to spend their Friday night with 300+ kids (ages 11-18). They took part in a Q & A, where kids had the ability to ask them questions in front of everyone, and then played H-O-R-S-E and shot around with the kids while signing autographs and taking pictures for the remainder of the time.

Teen Late Night is a Vancouver/Clark County free program for middle school and high school aged students every Friday night from 8pm – 11pm. With a current photo ID teens can hang out, play sports, relax with friends, etc. in a drug and alcohol free environment.

The Nautilus Cares program is dedicated to helping kids discover a passion for sports, active hobbies, and childhood play. That’s why they’re supporting Teen Late Night, a no-cost, drug- free, environment where teens can hang out on Friday nights to meet friends, be social, and play games and sports.

Studies show that active kids are healthier, happier, sleep better and do better in school, and by fostering a love of healthy habits and a love for active living early on, have a better chance of becoming healthier adults.

This was obviously not your typical TLN as the kids had no idea Pat & Moe were going to show up. Not only did Pat & Moe show up but so did Blaze (the Trail cat), the Blazer Dancers, & Stunt Team with t-shirts and other prizes kids could win during games throughout the night.

With Us was honored to have the opportunity to be there and support such a great cause. It really hit home for Pat considering he was fortunate enough to benefit from a similar place during his childhood back in Arlington, MA @ Fidelity House (one of the places With Us works with directly to help kids on their path to success in both athletics & life).
